Module 4 Notes - Photoshop
Above are some variations of an old photo of my wife's grandmother holding her sister Marie (in the middle) with her sister Joy on our left and Penny on the right.
ORIGINAL: I took the original down from the refrigerator and took a photo of it with my Nikon D3100 using my elbows on the floor as a tripod. CORRECTED: Photoshop has powerful tools for this. I did a lot of cleanup with the lasso and other tools, there were a lot of spots on the photo. BLACK AND WHITE: This was surprisingly easy to do. SATURATION: again, the tools are right there. FILTER EFFECT: In the small photo you can't see it too well but that is a drybrush painting effect and looks incredible when it is larger. SEPIA: believe it or not, for some reason this one took me about as long as all the others put together. GRADIENT MAP: strangely this brings out details I didn't notice before, for example Bessa's hands show up more.
The blue graphic above is an abstract design I made in Media 110 using Photoshop 6.
Okay just so you can see it - below is a larger version of the Filter effect. It ends up looking like a painting!
