Drawing Still Life Assignment
the Alphabet of Art:
The Size
An artist has complete control over how large or small every element will be. Even if, in real life something was further in the background. Features can be exaggerated, brought closer or sent further back. The imagination is the limit. Of the examples above, my favorite is "Dr. Dolittle and the Great Pink Snail." I fondly remember reading the Dr. Dolittle books as a child. Of the 10 images above, that one stands out because of the Size of the snail. The other one that stands out is "Adrift," with a tiny house at the mercy of powerful forces of nature. Size may matter not to Yoda, but it does matter in art.
