Practical Photography, Edge Effects and Desktop Printing
For this assignment I went with my wife to her favorite quilt shop, Annie's Quilt Shoppe in Shelton. We are friends with Annie, who is the owner there and she gave me full use of her store for this assignment. Thank you Annie!
Photography for Online Auctions
Out of 75 photos I chose these three because they looked like the kind of stuff you might see on ebay. I adjusted more images than this before these made the final cut.
Promoting a Business
Those are Annie's hands, she was working on something anyway and I took a shot so it's not really posed. Her shop sells quilting services as well as quilting machines and fully made quilts along with offering classes, patterns fabric and notions etc. I felt that if I were taking photos to promote any business, it is the service and not just the products that are the biggest key to that in my experience. http://www.anniesquiltshoppe.com/
Applying Edge Burning, Small Black Border and Rough Edges to a photograph
From top left: Before, Edge Burning, Small Black Border, Rough Edges.
For the Rough Edges I went for a final version that looks like somebody used the side of a pencil like an artist would, so it's actually more gray than black or white but it was the final look that I liked the best. I had no idea about what could be done with layers and gradients really until I did the Edge Burning portion of this assignment, it's kind of cool. The Small Black Border doesn't show up great with my existing black background but it really is there, I checked.
